Used Bike Sale and Expo

Giving great bikes a second wind

NOTE: THIS YEAR’S USED BIKE SALE AND EXPO IS CANCELLED DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Date: May 8 – 9, 2020

Time:

  • Bike drop off: Friday, May 8, 2020. 6:30 – 9 pm. Saturday 8 am – 9 am
  • Sale and Expo: Saturday, May 9, 2020. 9 am – 3pm

Location: Brunskill School (101 Wiggins Ave N)

What is it?

The Bike Sale and Expo is one of our flagship events. Each spring, we bring together good-quality used bikes that have been donated and used bikes on consignment, and offer them in a friendly, safe atmosphere. Our Bike Expo features displays, information, and products from local retailers, clubs, and organizations. Our Saskatoon Cycles table will feature a variety of goodies, including crocheted bike seat covers, baking, and handmade craft items.

What about bike accessories?

Yep, we’ll also be selling used bike accessories of all types — including racks, fenders, bells, and lights. We only sell helmets that are brand-new and have never been used.

Why we host the Used Bike Sale and Expo

We want to make it easy and safe for everyone to purchase a quality used bike that’s in good working order.

How does it work?

Got a good-quality used bike that you’d like to donate? Bring it to Brunskill School on Friday May 8 from 6:30-9:00 pm or Saturday morning at 8 am. If you can’t get there for some reason we’ll pick it up a week or two before and sell it at the Sale. Got a bike that you’d like us to sell on commission? Drop it off the night before, and we’ll include it in the sale. We keep a 25% commission and you get the rest.

Buy a bike

All of the bikes we sell are checked by an experienced mechanic. You can buy with confidence knowing you’re getting a bicycle that’s in good shape. Each bike comes with an evaluation outlining any service or parts that it needs.

Sell a bike on consignment

If you’d like to sell a bike without the stress and hassle, drop it off the night before. One of our trained mechanics will give it a thorough inspection. If it’s up to snuff, we’ll include it in our sale. You get to set the price, though we’re happy to suggest an appropriate amount. When it sells, we keep a 25% commission — you get the rest. Come back at 3 pm to either get your money or your bike.

Donate a bike

If you or someone you know has a good quality bike that’s been collecting dust in a garage or basement, contact us. We’ll pick it up and include it in our annual sale. Any donated bikes that don’t sell, we’ll give to Bridge City Bicycle Coop, to support their important work in providing space, tools, parts, and volunteers to help anyone learn how to fix their own bike or build/restore a bicycle using donated frames and parts.

What forms of payments we accept

We take credit cards or cash.

What does Saskatoon Cycles do with the proceeds?

The money we raise at the Bike Sale and Expo goes to support the work we do to make cycling safer and more accessible in Saskatoon.

How can I get involved?

  • Spread the word: If you know of family or friends with bikes in reasonable shape that are just taking up space in their garage or basement, please encourage them to donate those bikes to our sale.
  • Volunteer: Help us with set up or takedown. There will be lots of jobs that can use another set of hands.
  • Check it out: This year’s event will also include a Bike Expo featuring local businesses, organizations, and events. If you know of a business or group that would be a good fit, please let them know about this opportunity.

Who can I contact?

To have a bike picked up, volunteer, or get more information, contact us by email  (info@saskatooncycles.com ) or telephone (306 664-3908) or (306 241-1937)
